Medical article reviewer and clinical writer

We publish clinical education and reference materials for health care providers. Think Mayo Clinic-level editorial standards, but written for clinicians, students, and providers rather than patients.
This is ongoing project work, usually under 5 hours per week, and fully remote. The current assignments are specific existing pages that still need a named medical reviewer or rewriter. We are not hiring for a general content mill or a standing “write whatever we send you” queue.
This is not a general health blogging role. We are not looking for SEO article writers, wellness bloggers, AI content editors, or writers who only have casual health care experience. We need a verifiable medical professional or medical education expert who can improve the accuracy, credibility, and usefulness of our materials.
Languages we need right now
Each remaining page is in one language. You do not need all three. Apply for the language or languages you can actually review.
- French. Nine ACLS pretest quizzes: airway management, in-hospital bradycardia, in-hospital tachycardia, supraventricular tachycardia, in-hospital ventricular fibrillation, pulseless electrical activity, post-cardiac arrest care, STEMI, and adult stroke.
- Brazilian Portuguese. Three ACLS pretest quizzes (airway management, STEMI, and supraventricular tachycardia) plus the ACLS and PALS algorithm pages.
- English. The Hs and Ts article on reversible causes of cardiac arrest, plus certified cardiographic technician and certified rhythm analysis technician ECG quizzes.
For French or Brazilian Portuguese assignments, you must be native or bilingual in that language. You also need enough English to compare the page to its English source. For English assignments, English must be native or bilingual.
Do not apply if you cannot review at least one of these languages at a clinical-publication standard.
Terms
- Contract, hourly, $50–$200 per hour depending on credentials and experience
- Ongoing project, initially scoped at 3 to 6 months
- Fewer than 30 hours per week, usually under 5
- Remote, and we work in the New York / Eastern time zone
- Direct applications only, no agencies
Mandatory first-line application requirement
The first two lines of your application must include:
- Your verifiable medical credential link or identifier
- Your clinical or medical education specialty, and which of French, Brazilian Portuguese, and English you can review
Acceptable verification includes any of the following:
- United States NPI number
- State or provincial license lookup
- Institutional faculty or staff profile
- ORCID profile
- PubMed-indexed authorship
- Google Scholar profile
- CME or CE curriculum author profile
- Hospital, EMS, ICU, emergency, cardiology, anesthesia, respiratory therapy, or nursing education profile
Applications without a verifiable medical credential or equivalent medical education profile will be declined without review.
Preferred background
- Currently practicing or recently practicing health care provider
- Acute care, emergency care, ICU, critical care, cardiology, anesthesia, EMS, respiratory therapy, or resuscitation education experience
- Comfortable reviewing life support, ECG, airway, cardiac arrest, emergency care, and clinical education materials
- Strong writing ability
- Able to distinguish medical accuracy problems from wording and style problems
- Willing to say when a topic requires physician, specialist, or guideline-level review
- Located in Canada is a plus, but not required
Deliverables
- Professional resume, brief biography, and a headshot, because your contributions may be publicly attributed to you
- Article reviews with medical accuracy notes
- Courseware reviews
- Suggested corrections to existing study materials
- Responses to questions from students
- Source-backed recommendations using appropriate clinical guidelines, primary literature, or reputable medical references
- Clear notes identifying when a claim is outdated, overstated, unsupported, or outside your scope
Sample work
Examples of the actual remaining assignments:
- Review a French ACLS pretest (airway, arrhythmia, STEMI, stroke, or post-arrest) against current resuscitation practice and against the English source
- Review a Brazilian Portuguese ACLS quiz or the Portuguese ACLS / PALS algorithm pages the same way
- Review the English Hs and Ts article on reversible causes of cardiac arrest
- Review English ECG rhythm-analysis quizzes used in monitor-technician exam preparation
- Identify where content should be escalated for physician or specialist review
Skills we require
- Clinical-publication French, Brazilian Portuguese, and/or English. You do not need all three.
- Resuscitation and acute care: ACLS, PALS, ECG, airway, and cardiac arrest
- Medical writing and review
- Nursing, medicine, or an equivalent acute-care credential
Application questions
Answer all of these in your application:
- Provide your NPI number, license lookup, ORCID, PubMed profile, Google Scholar profile, institutional profile, or equivalent verification link.
- Which of French, Brazilian Portuguese, and English can you review at a clinical-publication standard? You do not need all three.
- What exact clinical or medical education experience qualifies you to review ICU, emergency care, ECG, ACLS, BLS, PALS, or life support content?
- What medical topics would you refuse to write or review without additional specialist review?
- Give one example of a medical article, guideline, curriculum, or courseware project you worked on, and explain your role.
- Are you comfortable having your name, biography, and professional credentials publicly attributed to reviewed content?
Please do not apply if your experience is limited to general article writing, health blogging, copywriting, AI rewriting, or non-clinical content production.
